A Little Extra Cash
Everyone (or, at least most of us) could use a little extra money every week. So, here are some side gigs you can do to help earn said extra money. And while these probably won't make you rich, they do have the potential to help add another $100 a week to your bank account—and maybe even more depending on how much effort you put into them. We wouldn't say no to an extra hundred bucks every week. Would you?
Website Testing
All you need is a computer, a microphone, good high-speed internet, and some time. Earn $10 or more per site test.
Data Entry
It might not be exciting—and it might not pay a lot. But it's usually pretty simple and can be done on your own time—making it easy to fit into your regular schedule.
Online Tutor
Work from home tutors can make as much as $7,500 a month—but that probably won't be you. You can however, earn a cool $10-$12 per hour being a tutor in a subject you are well-versed in. Some sites also hire tutors to help answer kids' homework questions.
Mow Lawns
It's not just for teens on summer holiday. Mowing lawns can be a legit side hustle for anyone with a lawn mower and the moxie to go around and drum up some clients. Most people hate mowing their lawn and if you can find that sweet spot cost-wise, all you will need are a few clients and $100 a week shouldn't be that hard to reach.
Rake Leaves
As the seasons change and lawns no longer need to be mowed, why not transition your customers by offering other seasonal services like raking leaves or cleaning gutters. And then...
Shoveling Snow
We aren't suggesting you buy a truck with a plow and go all Homer Simpson Mr Plow. But shoveling peoples' walkways and stairs is another helpful side hustle that can transition your summer and fall clients into winter clients as well.
Transcribing
How are your typing skills? Are you pretty quick on the keyboard? If so, maybe some side hustle transcribing is for you. The job is basically taking audio or video and typing it up—usually on a per-minute-of-audio rate.
Pet Sitting
People with dogs and cats take vacations also—and they often need something to do with their beloved fur baby when they are away. Well, that's where you come in. Take in a dog or a cat while the owner is away and make some extra cash to go along with the extra furry love you will be getting. This can be really good money depending on where you live.
Dog Walking
You don't just have to take in people's dogs for days at a time to make money. You can also just go to their house during the day and walk the dog for some extra cash in your wallet. Get enough houses on your schedule and that extra money adds up fast.
House Sitting
These jobs aren't always easy to find, but they do exist. Some people don't like leaving their houses empty for an extended period while they are away—so, they hire people to live in, and take care of the house, while they are gone. If you are responsible and trust-worthy, you can build-up a nice side-hustle with this one. And it could also be fun living in different houses sometimes.
Search Engine Evaluator
Lots of companies are looking for real people to evaluate and analyze search engine results. The job is usually part-time and work from home and can pay up around $12-$16 per hour.
Online Surveys
As long as you're willing to provide some personal information, there are a number of totally legit sites that will pay you for your opinions. Most surveys aren't paying that much, so we recommend signing up for as many sites/apps as you can to maximize your survey-taking-money-making potential.
We also recommend doing a little research—as there are some less-than-reputable survey sites out there. So, find the good ones and get going.
Focus Groups
Unlike surveys, focus group work can pay upwards of $50-$200 an hour. However, the work isn't as readily available as surveys—so there might not always be focus work to do. But it doesn't hurt to sign up for some focus group sites and be available when needed.
Social Media Management
Social media management is a real thing these days—and lots of companies are looking to build up their online presence. Are you on social media all the time? Do you have the skills to schedule posts and build Instagram profiles and Pinterest pages? Some kind of social media position might be just what you're looking for.
Affiliate Marketing
Do you have a blog or website getting a little traffic? Well, add some affiliate marketing links to said blog and you could possibly earn some nice passive income.
Etsy
It doesn't take very long to open an Etsy shop and it doesn't cost hardly anything either. The site charges a few cents for every item you post—but they make most of their money taking a small percentage of every sale. This makes it inexpensive to start your Etsy shop and take the time to build up your inventory and have customers find you. And if it doesn't work out, it was much more time than money spent.
POD
And while we're on the subject of Etsy. What if you don't want to print your own products, carry inventory and do your own shipping? Well, that's where these awesome Print-on-Demand services come in very handy. They will handle all your orders, printing the posters, T-shirts, mugs, etc as the orders come in, and they'll ship to your customers as well. You just have to make sure you charge enough to cover the cost of the item and Etsy's percentage. The rest is pure profit.
Design Marketplaces
Sites like RedBubble, Society 6, TeePublic and others take the POD thing to the next level. All you have to do is create and upload your designs and they do the rest. And you get a little share of each sale made with one of your designs on it (mugs, T-shirts, posters, phone cases, etc)
Now, while it is possible to make $100 a week on these services, getting to that point will take some time and effort (and if you can promote your stuff on social media, that would help). The market is pretty saturated, so getting your stuff found isn't always easy.
However, most of these services are pretty much free to try so the only cost in trying is your time.
Freelance Writing
There are actually a lot of blogs and websites out there looking for people to create content for them. Now, most of them aren't going to pay freelancers enough to make a living—but as a side-hustle, making at least $100 a week is actually very doable.
Virtual Assistant
This is a pretty broad hustle and can vary depending on the person/business you are virtually assisting. Check emails, schedule appointments, answer phone calls, organize social media...the possibilities are almost endless. Just pick an industry and see what's available.
Fiverr Freelance
Fiverr is a freelancer platform that allows people to offer their services in any number of areas—from copywriting to graphic design, video editing, translation, and more. While the service mostly began with the idea of freelancers charging $5 for their "gigs," the service now allows you to set your own prices for your services.
Playing Games
There are apps that will let you earn points by playing and testing out games on your phone. Like with surveys, the rewards per game aren't always that big, but it can add up to some decent cash and/or gift cards over time.
Food Delivery Driving
Uber Eats, DoorDash—there are lots of these food delivery services, and they seem to always be looking for drivers. As long as you have a car and a driver's license, It doesn't hurt to sign up and see how much you can make. Depending on where you live, there could be some decent side hustle money to be made here.
Uber Driving
Instead of delivering food to people, you could try delivering people to—well, wherever they are going. Uber can be a full-time job if you live in a busy enough city and are willing to put in the time. But if not, it's a pretty good way to make a few extra bucks.
Airbnb
Airbnb has become so big that there are people who make renting on the service their full-time job. Not everyone wants people in their home, we get that. But if you're okay with it and have a spare room—or better yet a guest house or separate abode to rent out—there is definitely some money to be made there.
Garage Sale
Okay, so obviously you can't have a garage sale every week—but if you do it right, and put out some good stuff, you could make upwards of $500-$1,000 in a weekend (which is like making an extra $100 a week for 5-10 weeks). And you clear out some space and declutter your home. Sounds like a win-win.
Online "Garage Sale"
Maybe you don't feel like setting up tables and dragging all your stuff onto the front lawn. Or maybe you don't like in an area conducive to the whole garage sale thing. No problem... Just take it online.
Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, eBay—these are all online destinations for sellers just like you who have stuff at home they are trying to get rid off for a good price.
And if that goes well, you could even step it up a notch with...
Reselling
Sold all of the good stuff in your home? Well, why not head out to garage sales and flea markets and find other people's stuff that you can buy for cheap and sell at a profit online?
Customer Support
It's true that customer support is often a full-time job. But there are companies that hire customer support representatives on a part-time basis. And these days, it's all work from home—as long as you have a solid high-speed internet connection and a quiet place to take the calls.
Ask For A Raise
Who said that extra $100 doesn't have to come from something other than your full-time job? Depending on what you do—and how well you do it—there might be the opportunity for a raise in your future.
