Vintage Objects Now Worth A Fortune

Retro Gold Rush

Nostalgia comes with a price tag, sometimes a hefty one. The collectibles market has changed drastically as adults chase memories of simpler times. And what once occupied toy shelves now sits behind glass in temperature-controlled displays.

Sealed Super Mario Bros NES Game

Who would have thought that leaving a $30 video game unopened would lead to a million-dollar windfall? Initially released in the mid-1980s, sealed Super Mario Bros copies for the Nintendo Entertainment System have become holy grails for collectors.

In 2021, one pristine, unopened copy shattered records when it sold for an astonishing $2 million at auction. The game's limited initial production run and the near impossibility of finding completely untouched copies decades later have created the perfect storm for these astronomical valuations.

1978 Luke Skywalker With Double-Telescoping Saber

Today, finding one of these figures in its original packaging can fetch between $12,000 and $18,000 at auction. What makes this collectible special is the lightsaber's design, which extends from Luke's arm in two stages rather than one. This feature was abandoned due to fragility concerns.
